Medical Deputising Service (AMDS)
Gawler GP Access Afterhours (GGPAA) has established an approved Medical Deputising Service (AMDS) to provide deputising services for General Practitioners in the Gawler region. GGPAA has the experience, personnel and systems to provide a quality medical deputising services to cover the unsocial hours. GGPAA is the local afterhours medical specialist.
Our Team
Our Doctors working with Gawler GP Access Afterhours are all registered with AHPRA and members of the relevant medical organisation like Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), our Doctors may be RACGP Fellows or working towards that goal. Our Doctors are supported by an experienced and confident team including two Medical Directors, one with 30 years experience in Australian general practice. Doctors work within a comprehensive governance framework to ensure quality practice.
Continuity of Medical Care
Patients must sign a consent form for GGPAA to properly manage their health information, they may opt to have a summary of all consults sent to their usual treating GP or they may wish for no information to be shared. Its the patients right and each patient attending our service or requesting a Home Visit will complete a consent form. We encourage patients to share information but its personal choice. Subject to the appropriate consent , a summary of the visit is sent to the patients usual Doctor via the encrypted email. The Locum Doctor has access to the latest medical software at any location to enable the Doctor to have access to the patients most recent health information. This is particularly relevant for patients with complex health needs, as the regular Doctor can provide specific management instructions which will be recorded on the patients file.
Subject to consent, a copy of the pathology results are sent to the patients usual treating Doctor. A confirmation is sent to the patients usual treating Doctor and if no signed receipt is received within 2 hours the requesting Doctor is contacted by phone. For abnormal results the GP will be contacted by phone immediately or referred to the GGPAA Medical Director to organise appropriate follow up.
